Handwoven Bilums

By generations of Woman in Papua New Guinea

Founded in Australia, Harvest Co works alongside women in the Sepik River region of Papua New Guinea, where many communities face significant economic and social barriers. Through dignified work and fair wages, each bilum becomes a pathway to economic independence for their families.

Who We Are

We are honoured to showcase the artisan craftsmanship of bilum weaving — a deeply rooted cultural practice passed down through generations. Every piece carries stories, symbolism and heritage, preserving an ancient art form while bringing it into modern life with intention and respect.

We acknowledge the Bundjalung people as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we are based in the Byron Bay region. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging, and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
This always was, and always will be, Aboriginal land.

We also acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the Keram River and Sepik River regions of Papua New Guinea, where our bilums are woven. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging, and honour their enduring cultural traditions and deep connection to land, river and community.
